- "About time you released this damn thing!" - Ya, ya, I know. I was working on
- registration routines. There done, so this was finished and released.
-
- "OK, I guess that's OK. Although I've heard about this program, I don't
- really know what it does." - Ya know how The Overseer was like god?
-
- "Yea.." - Well think of Borg as Satan. It will go threw your game and send
- everything and everyone it comes in contact with to hell.
-
- "Holy shit! That don't sound to pleasing!" - It's not. This program is VERY
- detructive in the Trade Wars 2002 universe. Anything it comes in contact with
- will be assimilated. No matter what there power or shielding is.
-
- As it assimilates items, it adds them to it's own inventory. After it's done,
- if it has any, it will use things like beacons, fighters, mines, cloaks.
-
- "Damn this sounds cool" - it is.
-
- "How do you set it up?" - Well, this one has one more step then my past stuff.
-
- First edit the config file, sample:

-
- For the most part it is self explanatory. Line 1 is the datapath of your
- data files for TW2002, line 2 is your name as registered, line 3 is the
- player number of the borg record. Line 4 is your registration code, line 5
- is the players name who is the Borg, and line 6 is there ship name.
- The rest is commented so I wont repeat it again.
-
- Most of it can be left as defaults. After you look over and edit the config
- file to suit your likes, setup a player record in TEDIT. This will be the
- Borg player. Needless to say, with different config files, you could have
- more then one borg ship, but one is detructive enough. ]:)
-
- Calling syntax for Borg is: BORG configfile
-
- That's about it.
-
-
- -=-=- Registration -=-=-
-
- Needless to say, I have not been getting much in donations. So I've decided to
- release my "larger" programs as ShareWare. Although I personally hate ShareWare,
- I am forced to use it. Borg registration is $10. Nice and cheap I think.
-
- With registration, you get the following:
-
- * No annoying 30 second pause at start up (Damn I just HATE delays, don't you?)
- * Borg will only cloak if it has cloaks, and not all the time.
- * When Borg releases fighters they will be detracted from his inventory.
- * Borg will not claim every planet it finds as it's own.
- * Borg will not kill the players after it assimilates them.
- * And anything else I add in the future.
-
- Now unless some wanna-be hacker cracks my reg code and distributes one of those
- damn auto-reg utils, then your reg code will be good for all future versions
- of Borg.
-
- You may try Borg for 30 days. If on the 31st day, you continue running Borg,
- your must register it. If you do not you must discontinue the use of it.
-
- If you run a multi-node system, you only need to register once to be able to
- use it on more then one node of the SAME BBS. So one registration is valid
- for node 1, node 2, node 3, etc. I don't belive in charging more then once
- if the program will be used on one BBS, even if it has multiple nodes.
-
-
- -=-=- Misc. -=-=-
-
- I'd suggest ya run Borg every other day or once a week or so. It is very
- destructive so I think it would detract from the game if it was run to
- often. So once a week would be good. Plus, since it is a player, it can be
- destroyed. Altho it will be brought back to life the next time the program
- runs.
-
- Borg should piss off Joel Downer even more then Roaming StarDock did. Haha.
- Hi Joel. :)
-
- If you don't have something to only run a program on a certain day, get
- WHATSTHE from my support board. It will let you use the ERRORLEVEL to
- determine the day, month, year, hour, minute, etc. for event files and
- whatnot. (Oh shifty, a plug for another program, hehe, good one.).
-
-
- There was something else I wanted to add to this but I forget. Oh well.
-
- As always, if you have any comments, suggestions, bug reports, ideas,
- donations, registrations, etc, etc, etc. Send them to me at my surface mail
- address or my BBS, both listed elsewhere.
-
- If you'd like your BBS listed in all my releases, send me an ANSI/ASCII file
- of what you want and I'll include it in my releases. Same with companies.
- No charge. Plus from what I hear, my stuff is popular so it should get a
- fair amount of people looking at it. Or if you just want me to say "hi" to
- you, send me mail telling me.
-
- I think this is about it. Guess I'll stick the ending text on this and
- archive it up and release it.. Of course after i have it released I'll
- most likely find a big error, don;t it always work out like that? <g>.
-
-
-
- If you own/run a company, donate hardware to my BBS (like a 19.2 kbp modem!)
- and get your company/store name and address posted on my board AND in my doc
- files!!! Hows that for some good advertising? I think it's worth it. And if
- you do donate hardware, you'll get the next 5 releases free that require a
- registration to unlock features. So I think you get something good in return.
-
- Send any registrations, donations or hardware to the address given shortly.
- And for hardware, don't forget to include any information you want added to
- my board/DOCs about your store, like phone number, address, what you sell/do,
- etc. A full ANSI advertisement would be great to.
-
-
-
-
- That should be enough. Now the stuff no one reads.. If you like this or
- any of the other programs I've done that you have or have seen, please send
- me something for my time and testing. I currently don't have a "real" job and
- my only income is from my BBS and my programming. Do you know how hard it is
- for a 22 year old computer nerd to get a job in a small hick town?
-
- Send any registrations, donations, or your own programs that you've written
- to be placed on my BBS to:
-
- David Proper
- 927 Maple Avenue, NW
- New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663-1522
-
-
- Or if you just want to check out my BBS, which has all my publicly released
- programs online, give my BBS a call:
-
-
- The Ace of Spades
- 1-216-339-4592
- 300/1200/2400 baud - 24hrs - 7dys
- 21,000+ files - 130+ doors - 7+megs Gfiles
- 930megs online - 30+ message bases - Truly Private Email
- Adult Section - CMF/MOD/GIF/MID/ROL/VOC/Etc files
- Supports the 1st Admendment - Lots more goodies like a SysOp
- who accualys answers mail and the pager.
- Yea, I also have a Sound Blaster Pro so I can do any audio samples for the
- users that they may want.
-
-
- A quick little thank you goes out to Dan Roseen, SysOp of Nite Owl BBS
- 206-631-4949. He gave the TW file formats to one of my users that called his
- system looking for them. Thanks Dan, we need more SysOps like that who are
- willing to help out there users and other SysOps. (You wouldn't believe the
- bullshit in this area between the local systems. It's unbelievable)
-
- And of course thanks to Jason Boyd for writing the text file that had the
- file formats.
-
- Guess that's the end of this file. End racism. Increase the peace. Later.
